The Chromosome Gap

"Compared with the chromosomes of humans and other great apes, the pygmy chimpanzee's chromosomes are ...the most specialized -- they have changed more over time than have the others. 'Surprisingly,' Stanyon and his colleagues conclude, 'the human karotype (chromosome complement) is the most conservative...It has more unchanged chromosomes."
